Making Music with Logic Pro:

At School of Synthesis we teach LOGIC PRO X in a small class of between 1-8 students to ensure you are making your own music in weeks whilst learning how to use all the features of Logic Pro.

Course Overview:
Learn how to make music using Logic Pro X. Our course will teach you how to record instruments and vocals, write notes, pitch and stretch your audio and mix and master your tracks in our course that covers all of Logic Pro's features in a simple and structured way. In 6 weeks you will be writing and producing your own music with confidence.

School of Synthesis Making Music with Logic Pro course designer Davide Carbone is officially recognised by Apple as an expert in the use of Logic Pro X. Davide has been using Logic Pro for over 20 years and has hosted seminars for Apple in London during that time. He is registered as only one of two Apple certified Logic Pro professionals in the country.

Course Level:
The course is suitable for all people including those that have not used music making software to producers and musicians with a basic understanding of Logic Pro X. This course assumes no experience of Logic Pro X and covers students producing a track from start to finish using Logic Pro X.  

Course content and features:
Logic Pro X as an audio production tool: An overview of all the windows and features
Recording, comping, and editing audio within Logic Pro X
Logic Pro X's native Audio FX, Midi FX and software instruments
Using and automating plug-ins and their parameters in Logic Pro X
Transposing, pitching, flexing and stretching audio within Logic Pro X
Note and midi editing in Logic Pro X
Mixing and mastering techniques in Logic Pro X

Course objectives: by the end of this course you should be able to:
Navigate Logic Pro X using key commands, screensets and hot keys.
Load, record and edit audio within Logic Pro X
Write, program, edit and manipulate notes in Piano Roll
Utilise all af the windows and features of Logic Pro X
Set-up customised Logic Pro X templates and interfaces
Understand effects and software instruments within Logic Pro X
Master a track using the inbuilt tools of Logic Pro X

Each enrolment includes a software licence to use Carbon Electra, one of the worlds leading synthesizers. 

School of Synthesis Producer Pack: 
Each enrolment includes a carefully selected VST/AU plugin pack for Windows and MAC OSX with everything you need to get producing, including some of the best EQ, Compressor, FX and Limiters available.  

Analogue Sequences:
Each enrolment includes an authorised download of the Loopmaster Analogue Sequences pack designed by School of Synthesis trainers for Ableton Live. 

SOS Loopmasters Pack:
All SOS students receive a free download of samples from the award winning Loopmasters collection. 

Educational Discounts:
As an SOS students you will be eligible for student discounts from Ableton, Output, Fabfilter, Rob Papen, Plugin Boutique and more. Information on educational discounts will be sent to you via email upon enrolment.

Learning methods:

Each session commences with a group demonstration and discussion, followed by solo work on one of our eight Mac workstations where you will practice set themes and techniques derived from real-world applications of the technology. Upon demonstrating your command of the necessary skills you will be further encouraged to add originality to your recreations and save various versions of your work. 

Additional resources and materials:
All hardware and software is supplied, though we recommend students bring a storage device (eg. portable usb drive) to save and back up all work, and a pen and paper to take notes. 

Assessment and feedback:
You will save successive work and will receive regular support, encouragement and feedback from your tutor. All students will be sent a School of Synthesis tote bag containing a t-shirt, sticker and certificate upon the successful completion of the course.
