I’ve just completed the final module of the SOS Complete Course, and as an aspiring music producer, this is the best possible investment that I could have made. Rather than spending money on fancy plugins or equipment, I would advise anyone wanting to learn about music production to take these courses first. The school methodically covers every facet in detail that you just can’t find anywhere else, and all classes are run by teachers that are working in the industry and have their fingers on the pulse.

Before enrolling on the course, I was a self taught instrumentalist with the desire to throw myself into all aspects of music production. The Complete Program at the School of Synthesis was exactly what I was looking for and more! I learned far more than I thought I would in such a short space of time and its been an absolute pleasure being taught by experts in their field. Special thanks to Shaun and Davide who vastly improved my weakest areas (production, music theory and arrangement) and Leroy for a Making Beats Masterclass . If you’re looking for a comprehensive insight into music production I highly recommend the complete program, I feel like I’ve learned the equivalent of 2 years self study in 3 months. Thank you.

I completed the ‘Complete Program’ at SOS and it was just what I was looking for. I came into music production with some knowledge but I walked out with so much more than I expected. All the courses I took were great. I especially loved the Mixing and Mastering Production masterclass as this has helped my mixing ability and understanding increase dramatically. I now know how to use an EQ and compressor and understand what they actually do. If you’re looking to learn and upskill your production skills I would highly recommend taking a course a SOS. If you have the money I would definitely look at the Complete Program. In my opinion you won’t find another music school in Melbourne that is as good as this one. The guys at SOS are super friendly and helpful and help make the whole learning experience enjoyable. Thumbs to SOS!!

Prior to beginning the ‘SOS Complete Program’ I had 3 months of music making under my belt. After completing the Complete Program my competence exponentially increased to the point that when I visit other studios I’m able to sit there and know exactly what they are doing and why. I went from not knowing what piano scales were to making and playing my own piano compositions thanks to the Modern Music Theory course and Arrangement course. The Sound Design course brought me up to speed on synthesis, now throw me any synth and I’ll be able to work my way around it. 6 sessions of the Mixing and Mastering Production Masterclass would probably calculate to equal 2 years of YouTube vids. Lastly the Making Music with Logic Pro X course was beyond helpful, simply because I know the capabilities of all the tools in Logic and where to find them. I think the ‘SOS Complete Program’ is a must for all aspiring producers who want to learn the ins and outs of every aspect producing has to offer.

I found School of Synthesis online and enroled in the Complete Program. Not only were the classes well structured, but so was the whole program. I met great people with different levels of experience along the way and feel as if anyone could take away something from these courses regardless if you’re a beginner or someone who’s been making music most their lives. Most importantly the tutors made it a fun environment for everyone to learn, it just didn’t feel like “school” and that was a huge plus! Overall I’m very happy with the program and been given some great advice and feedback along the way. I can recommend not only the program but any courses from School of Synthesis! I came in with no musical background and knew nothing about sound design or mixing and mastering. I also wrote my first 3 experimental tracks during my time at the school, feel free to check it out on my soundcloud.

I just completed the School of Synthesis Complete Program and it was the best money I have ever spent. Knowledge is power and thats what the teachers and content provided me with. My favourite thing about SOS is the fact that you can ask the teachers any question, and you will have a direct answer. They are your own personal trouble shooters for problems that arise for you while creating music. They are super talented pros at SOS and discussions were always great. My course tip would defs be Modern Music Theory course. If you don’t know your notes and struggle to create melodies this is a great start. The Alive with Ableton Live course and Sound Design course really pushed the boundaries and we made some great sound. I wouldn’t skip past the Mixing and Mastering Production Masterclass, understanding your EQ’s and compressors is vital to a clean production. Shout out to Leroy as well for a killer class on the Making Beats course. All the love SOS!!

Studying the Complete Program gave me a great overview of all aspects of music production. Each instructor is highly knowledgeable and offers a clear and structured way of looking at each field, as well as opening the floor for discussion. The courses helped me to fill in the gaps in my learning, giving me a fresh perspective of how to approach my music and improve my workflow. Highly recommended!

After extensively researching several dozens of music production schools I managed to find the most appropriate school that catered for my requirements. The School of synthesis offers a bit more than others in terms of networking opportunities, access to audio equipment and a small classroom environment to give us an opportunity to be heard. The school offers state-of-the-art technology and is composed of an experienced and diverse faculty, many of which are active in the music industry. Be prepared to be stretched out of your comfort zone with the courses. I would not hesitate to recommend the Complete Program and I feel I have gained invaluable knowledge to turn my passion into a profession. Thank you to all the tutors that made this possible.
